Adventures to San Jose

Last Wed+Thurs I flew up to San Jose to see Neil... but with a purpose! Saw the epic Lakers vs Warriors game! It was *sings* epiccccccc! The stadium was awesome, I'd say like almost an even amount of Lakers and Warriors fans in the stadium. There were Lakers fans sitting in the Warrior section, and sometimes the cheers for the Lakers were louder than Warriors! I felt bad for them cause well, it's their home court, but nonetheless- it made for an entertaining game. :)

I also went to the Tech museum in downtown SJ and visited Body World. I have to say, it was a little disappointing :( The exhibit was a pretty small room and had less than 10 bodies and the fillers were like an anatomy class (displays of cross-sections of the body, bones, and models). But the Tech museum was fun! I played in there like a little kid. lol

My flight back to Burbank Thursday night was rudely delayed 2+ hours due to a lockdown incident at the terminal. Some lady decided to run through security and the whole terminal basically got shut down. I was waiting in the security line to be scanned and stuff, but worse was for the people ALREADY boarded and had to de-plane and get rechecked. lol I found out that my flight was held from the lockdown and that there were a little less than 100 people on the flight, and only 6 people hadn't boarded when lockdown was called. WELL... by God's grace and a ton of guilt- I was one of the 6 people they held the plane for. lol Thankfully, those 6 people remained anonymous! People were annnnngryyyy! haha

I really enjoy visiting Norcal, I enjoy the rain and how everything's so close by. Looking forward to visiting more often! :)

Since when did my mom know how to use the Lord's name in vain?

Although it sounds adorable in her Chinese accent, definitely no bueno to encourage lol. My mom is challenging me to the iphone game Jam Packed! She's so cute, I'm am ahead of her in levels and I said I'll stop ask wait for her to catch up and she said "你想玩我啊?" (Are you joking with me?) haha funnier in Canto.

Anyways, made an interesting observation yesterday. Was reflecting on how the year thus far (6 days in... lol) has been really smooth and the blessings that I've received and experienced from God.

- The last week of December 2010 was a horrible horrible work week. Bosses were being jerks and micromanaging everyone's move to the point of unbearableness and talking back to them. Particularly working on the traditional side of the pharmacy, working with one of my bosses was just bad. I've had experience in the lab before and so to escape the madness from traditional, I wanted to ask the lab pharmacist if I could start working more with him. However, a technician had to quit that week so I figured I wouldn't get an opportunity now because we're short staffed on the traditional side. Well just yesterday, the other technicians said that we'll be doing a rotating schedule now so we're not all stuck at one station. I was like whoa, and was thrown into lab liquid land where I compounded all day (which I've never done before)! :) Praise God for his sovereignty!
- Recently, I've been talking a lot of with Neil about me moving up to San Jose as the next step in our relationship. But first I must get over the obstacle of my parents. I would say they're traditional, but more liberal on some aspects- I just never know which one haha. And so I was talking to my mom about where my next job would be, and she basically said it was okay for me to move up north if I found a job up there! Praise God for his grace!
- I was researching possible grad schools instead of pharmacy schools to apply to, wondering if I had any interest in those subjects. Ultimately, I didn't (lol) and so I'm really glad that pharmacy is going to be my goal in the next few years. Praise God for clarity and provision!
- And praise God for his wisdom because I think I know what to write about for my personal statement :P

I am contributing all these blessings to 1 thing: reading His Word.

It seems silly but I really believe that... (I can't say it as eloquently as God so I'll quote from Him):

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him"
Hebrews 11:6

So I hope this encourages you to continue to be thirsty for the Lord and His Word- not for the rewards, not for perks, but because you genuinely have a desire to strengthen the bond you have with Jesus. Do it for Him, and then everything else GOOD will follow :) :) :)

Starting up again

Vroom vroom! Praise the Lord this year is getting off to a relatively good start! I've made many New Year's resolutions in the past, but this year, I have a good feeling about it! Last Sunday service, our pastor asked us what our resolution this year would be. Immediately, I thought of 1 thing: I would like to read more of God's word this year. Following service, I wander to the back of the room, and I see a sign up sheet for "Reading the Bible in a year." haha that was a pretty big confirmation from the Lord right there. I did hesitate signing up for it because I was scared of the work and accountability that would come from writing my name down. A sister caught me looking at it and after chatting for a bit, I decided to do it!

Thus far, it's been a real blessing reading the first couple chapters of Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, and Matthew. It's nice rereading scripture that I haven't read in awhile. :)

I've had convictions to read the Bible in a year twice before: once was when Bob Boardman spoke at winter conference, and a second time at STP in Berkeley. Unfortunately, I never took these seriously and never carried through with it. This time around, I have a good feeling about it. I'm blessed to have a few accountability partners who will also be joining me on this journey with God. :)

That said, Neil is also going to join me on this spiritual journey :) I'm very happy that we'll be trucking through His Word together. Lately we've been reading and finishing 2 Samuel together and discussed what it meant to fear God. And then I was reading Prov 1:7a "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" and how true is that! I'm excited to see what He'll be revealing to me :) Yay!
